You certainly haven’t seen all of Madeira if the Serra D’Agua area is not on your to do list. Framed by high mountains and the Encumeada path, we walk in the evergreen valley of Ribeira Brava. Time has stood still here! The slightly higher terraced fields are overgrown with eucalyptus and flowering acacias – nature, the terrain, and the lower terraced fields are still beautifully cultivated. Our walk trail leads us along a levada of a section of about 6 km and we enjoy the lush nature along the way. However, we are not the only ones, many small Lagartixa-da-Madeira (Madeira wall lizards) are our constant walking companions.
